Welcome to QiAngel, where traditional East Asian medicine meets the health concerns of the western world. Currently, most conventional doctor office visits consist of patients being squeezed into ten minute time slots and walking away with a prescription for one or more pharmaceutical drugs. The limited doctor-patient interaction is driven by the agendas of pharmaceutical and insurance companies. At QiAngel, we believe patients deserve better. Our mission is to provide an engaging therapeutic experience through the use of classical Chinese medicine to effectively address your health concerns.
What is Chinese medicine? Chinese medicine is a method of preventing and healing illness. Possible treatment modalities are acupressure, cupping, massage, acupuncture, moxibustion, and medicinal herbs. The treatment therapies are based on a tradition of more than 2,000 years. Like conventional western medicine which only evolved about 200 years ago, East Asian medicine is taught at academic institutions and it consists of medical literature, methodology, diagnosis, and treatment therapies.
Unlike western medicine which focuses on pathology at a microscopic level, Chinese medicine focuses on improving physiology to treat the whole person on a macroscopic level. Conventional biomedicine has a disease-centered focus, whereas East Asian medicine has a patient-centered approach. I spend a lot of time getting to know my patients, listening to their histories, asking about current lifestyle habits, observing physical presentations, examining pulse and tongue, palpating the body’s meridians, and looking at the interplay of constitutional, environmental, and lifestyle factors that influence health.
If you are suffering with pain or an illness that conventional biomedicine has been unable to resolve or does not recognize, try Chinese medicine. In the U.S. Chinese medicine is known mainly for treating pain. In reality, Chinese medicine can help many conditions such as insomnia, night sweats, hot flashes, menstrual irregularity or pain, infertility, migraine, bell’s palsy, hypertension, allergies, sinusitis, asthma, acid reflux, poor appetite, constipation, and joint stiffness to name a few. I can offer options other than pharmaceutical drugs and invasive surgery.
